Knit Red Book Giveaway
Knit Red: Stitching for Women’s Heart Health is part of an effort to raise money for the Heart Truth Campaign, which seeks to raise awareness about heart disease in women. I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful effort spearheaded by Laura Zander of Jimmy Beans Wool.
Not only does Knit Red contribute to this cause, it also contains some wonderful patterns by some pretty wonderful designers. I’m very proud of my design, the Silk and Mohair Cape, which is knit out of Rhapsody Glitter Light and Silk Mohair. A portion of sales of this yarn and color, Rhapsody Glitter Light 244, will be donated toward the Heart Truth campaign.

Aside from my design, there is another pattern in the book that uses Artyarns! It was designed by our European distributor, and the owner of Maschenkunst in Cologne, Germany – Daniela Johannsenova. The Graphic Tunic is knit out of Rhapsody Glitter Light and Beaded Mohair and Sequins. It uses 1 skein each of Rhapsody Light in 4 colors (H11, 244, 300, and 295) and 2 skeins of Beaded Mohair & Sequins in 300 Silver.
The book will be released this month, but we are having a book giveaway for one lucky reader! If you would like to win a copy of this book, please leave a comment below about one thing you do to keep your heart healthy. The winner will be chosen on Wednesday, June 20th.

I hit send before I finished. I knit with friends to enjoy laughter and a glass of red wine.
I try to eat lots of fruit and veggies and cut red meat down to a minimum. I also try to walk a lot each day. I like to take the stairs rather than elevators when I can.
I limit my fat intake, take an aspirin a day, and eat dark chocolate!
I’ll be fifty-fabulous-six this year. I’ve lost 24lbs and on track to lose more. I am exercising for the first time in my life- just weights right now. I sauté greens for dinner several times a week, I add edamame to my usual lunch salads and find that I truly enjoy eating better! Unexpected joy in caring for myself in is way.

I recently changed my diet to 90% vegan. I have a high stress job. After many years, I finally prioritized getting 7 hours of sleep a night. These changes have made a big difference.
My parent’s both died from heart problems. I try to keep active and positive….stress is a major problem with heart disease. I have my knitting time every night to calm me down.
I walk with my dog and eat healthy
I have decided to knit every pattern in this book as a challenge to myself – and give each of them to a woman that i love and admire. Red is the color of assertiveness – so each one will make a great gift.
I am eating heart healthy foods, such as lots of veggies and fruits. Eating chicken, fish, and limiting meat to once a week. Healthy eating in hand with exercise and a non-smoker is key to a healthy heart. ;0)
Still waiting patiently to hear if I won a copy of this wonderful book…
